Roses

Roses

There are still roses
I planted them in joy
And fed them my hope
For beauty, peace, and love

There are still roses
Even though I gave them
Way too much coffee
And not enough water

There are still roses
Despite the weeds that grew
In the weeks that I
Could not bring myself to

There are still roses
Even now in the frost
That we must endure
Through the darkest days

There are still roses
With all my heart I say
Remember my loves
That there are still roses

This rose survived my gardening last year. I'm proud of it.
